UVA has partnered with Community Land Trust Association of West Marin (CLAM) to develop four to six units to house farm worker families. Lease negotiations are currently underway with Catholic Charities of San Francisco, the owner of a 1910s-era structure, the Sacred Heart Rectory, located in Olema. The plan is to renovate the existing building to accommodate nine bedrooms in four to six apartments, each with one or two bedrooms, a bathroom, and a sitting room. The project has been designed and building permits are in hand to begin construction on the project when the lease is executed. The exact configuration could be adapted to the needs of the families that move in, and only minor structural changes will be needed. The units will share an ample kitchen with two refrigerators, two ovens, and a large pantry, with individual pantry storage spaces for each apartment.
